Remember our best

by MATILDA/FROGGY34
‘Remember our best’ is the first FROGGY 34 release featuring Matilda following her A/ B side ‘4PM’/ ‘LOOK UP’ featuring froggy last year. This was written about loosing contact with many of her friends since moving to university in 2019. She see’s it as an ode to the free party days of what once was and as a reminder to remember the good times they all shared rather than the difficulties that come with moving away and loosing contact. The final mix and master was done by Dani Doom who brought the track to life making the sound universal from your headphones to the shubs.
Matilda is a third-year popular music student. ‘MATILDA’ channels her creative expression across various genres meshing together her sensitive perspectives in songwriting alternative neo/soul with her more recently found passion for electronic music, more specifically a genre she coins ‘bubble gum liquid drum and bass’ under a persona ‘FROGGY34’. However universally, her lyrics are often honest yet poetic, drawing from her childhood out in the sticks to her experiences as a young adult moving to London city. As the genres are so drastically different, Matilda allows herself creative freedom by separating her online identities trying not to be held captive to one facet of her imagination.
She is a DIY artist, who self manages her creative projects alongside her studies but this has been healthy for the development of her creativity. However this hasn’t been a problem with receiving recognition from the industry with her being asked to support Joy Crookes on Carnaby street in partnership with Nike in 2020.
Matilda/Froggy 34 now regularly DJS at the CLF Art Lounge, the first Wednesday of every month, where they champion Nu-Jazz student artists across the area.

Heartbreak Holds on

by MATT THE SEEKER
“Heartbreak holds on’ will be released the 5th march and is the first single from Matt’s upcoming E.P ‘PLANET HEARTBREAK’ “
The moniker ‘Northern Irish Pop Star’ for singer/songwriter MATT THE SEEKER originated as a joke among friends. Now in an attempt to live up to the title, he releases his first-ever single ‘heartbreak holds on’. It’s a fun pop song about healing from heartbreak and a self-referential nod to Pop’s commercial tropes. This accessible pop song is exactly 3 minutes long.
‘Heartbreak holds on’ will be released 5th March. This track is the lead single from his upcoming E.P PLANET HEARTBREAK’.
Matt’s Influences include the commercial sounds ‘Carly Rae Jepson’ and ‘Katy Perry’. He enjoys the structural reliability of pop songs but enjoys experimenting with synths and artificially produced sounds.
Now dwelling in South East London, Matt immerses himself in the city lights, the parks, and friendships, like any normal ‘Northern Irish Pop Star’ would do.
Sleepyhead

“retro’s lyrics cut like the cold light of day through the hedonism of a clean garage beat. ‘Every day I start anew I quit the gin/ I dead the zoots’. She’s getting older, wise enough to know that the party’s over but it’s already taken its toll. Lethargic, depressive, retro resigns herself to the duvet: ‘gang in the head they’re not my friends, think I’ll just stay in bed’ Catchy, honest and ever off-kilter, ‘Sleepyhead’ shows retropxssy’s ability to play with popular forms and still keep her own voice ringing true. A tune to get you dancing after so long in the dark because it’s not afraid of it. The track was produced by Groningen based Jeremy-M.
Sleepyhead is out now on all streaming platforms. You can find more of retropxssy’s work at www.retropxssy.tumblr.com”

“ ,Ongoing Construction,. is a brief exploration of the decisions we make, the factors beyond our control and others’ actions towards us. I wrote EP as an embodiment of how these factors can affect the individual. I look at photos of myself from a couple of days/months ago. I can see changes within myself, as result of my own decisions, factors beyond my control and others’ actions towards me. Some changes for the better and others sadly not so. Through these songs, I have been able to pin point these constructional changes. It is my hope that you will connect with these songs in your own way. That you’ll dance with them, and cry with them, just as I have. I hope you will be able to connect with the message of feeling like an ‘ ,Ongoing Construction., ‘“

WEIGHTLESS (EP)
by Carl Bandi
by Carl Bandi
WEIGHTLESS is an introspective EP that fuses genres of R&B, Soul and Alternative music. Sonically, there’s a blend of samples and instrumentation to create richly textured and melodic sounds that are encompassed in an ethereal atmosphere. I wanted to tackle subjects that most impacted my teenage years such as religion, anxiety and relationships through various perspectives and language techniques that intrinsically convey stories and emotions. Ultimately, this project is humbled by the amateur bedroom production but attempts to push the boundaries of trending music in an effort to create something more.
Carl Bandi is a first year Musician/Producer studying Popular Music at Goldsmiths. Fervent at music production and singing, Carl makes Alternative R&B music utilising his skills with several instruments and with music technology. Recently, he produced a project incorporating the skills he’s developed over the years and the influences he’s acquired.
