A Woman’s Place reclaims a phrase that once confined women – and turns it on its head.
At Darjeeling Express, the world's only all-female Indian kitchen, a group of women - all home cooks and migrants - have built something powerful: not just a restaurant, but a space of belonging, dignity, and pride.
With no formal training and stories shaped by struggle, separation and strength, they’ve turned labour that was once invisible into something celebrated. This documentary follows their stories as they cook, remember, and reflect – tracing how their lives, their work, and their bond have come together to create something lasting. Through their voices, the kitchen becomes not just a workplace, but a place of identity, meaning and social change.
